Course Aims
To understand how to teach swimming strokes
How to break down swimming strokes to teach them successfully
To understand how swimming and water safety can be delivered to meet school swimming outcomes
To develop confidence and the ability to adapt the lesson progressions to meet the children's learning needs
How health safety considerations impact the organising and delivering of a school swimming programme
This course follows on from the 'Everything You Need to Know for School Swimming' course.
The day is a combination of theory and practical. Delegates will be required to participate in the practical sessions in the pool and so therefore should be a confident swimmer. The course is designed for PE subject leaders, class teachers and T.A's who accompany children school swimming. It will develop a teacher’s subject knowledge and confidence by exploring how to break down and teach the required National Curriculum requirements.
The day will explore planning, sequencing of learning and assessing basic skills using the Swim England Swim Charter stages 1-6.
DELEGATES WILL BE REQUIRED TO GO IN THE POOL. PLEASE BRING SWIMWEAR, TSHIRT AND SHORTS FOR WATER SAFETY SESSION AND A TOWEL
