Suitable for: Subject Leaders

Course code Keystages Presented by
MAT102 Foundation; KS1
  • Andrew Taylor (Senior Teaching and Learning Consultant-Primary)

Course Aims
• To familiarise subject leaders with the educational programme for mathematics within the EYFS.
• To identify the key pedagogical approaches for mathematics in the EYFS.
• To consider how subject leaders can effectively monitor provision within the Foundation Stage.
• To explore how the curriculum for the EYFS should make effective links with the National Curriculum in Year One.

The primary curriculum for mathematics starts in the Early Years. It is therefore essential that subject leaders are confident with the mathematical content of the learning in the EYFS and the approaches used for children to acquire these early skills and knowledge. This half day course will provide subject leaders with curriculum and progression documents along with monitoring resources to support them in building a picture of mathematical education in the EYFS.
