Following the success of the Year 6 last push packs on 'Wonder' and 'The 1000 Year Old Boy', the Lancashire English team have published a new Year 6 unit, 'The Lion and Albert', providing Year 6 teachers with an alternative (or additional) unit to support end of Key Stage 2 writing outcomes. This half day course will:
* exemplify the new unit, based on the classic poem The Lion and Albert by Marriot Edgar
* explore carefully planned writing opportunities across four key sections - immersion into text; narrative (diary entries and a short flashback story); communication (email letters) and persuasion (adverts and reviews)
* directly link writing opportunities to target specific statements and skills from both the Lancashire Key Learning

Documents for Reading and Writing and the STA Key Stage 2 Teacher Assessment Framework (TAF), including those from within the Greater Depth Standard.

The unit is available to purchase for £30.

The unit comprises of a total of 27 sessions.

A reading and writing overview, outlining the key skills and all modelled and independent writing opportunities within each section, will also be explored.
