This course aims to explore the Y1 expectations of the National Curriculum, focusing on:

•key reading skills including phonics, word reading and comprehension;
•key writing skills including spelling, grammar and punctuation;
•creative approaches to support effective writing composition.

This course will examine the various aspects of the National Curriculum for English in Y1. Teachers will explore ways to integrate essential reading and writing skills within a lively, engaging and purposeful unit, based around a theme and a quality text.
