This course aims to support delegates in:
- examining the progression of sentence construction across Key Stage 2 with a focus on age-related expectations;
- exploring engaging and creative strategies for teaching sentence construction, appealing to a range of learning styles; and
- planning opportunities to teach and apply sentence skills.

Sentence construction is an essential part of improving writing. In Key Stage 2, children learn how to structure sentences in different ways, before learning how to combine different sentence types to achieve certain effects in their writing. This course will provide delegates with the relevant knowledge in the progression of sentence construction, alongside practical strategies and a suggested model for teaching specific sentence types.
