- To provide guidance for Year 6 teachers in making judgements about standards of writing.
- To increase confidence in understanding expectations at Year 6.
- To benchmark evidence against national standardisation materials.
- To take part in moderation of writing examples.
- To identify next steps to develop pupils writing further.
This half day course will provide teachers with the opportunity to discuss and explore age related expectations in writing at Year 6. Participants will use national standardisation materials to develop their understanding of standards within the teacher Assessment Framework. There will be the opportunity to analyse where pupils are currently working at and then to identify gaps and next steps in teaching.
Participants are asked to bring evidence of children's work with them for between three and five children. Typically one or two children who are on track to achieve age related expectations, a child who is working towards age related expectations and a child who is working beyond expectations. Work may include hard copy evidence such as work in books or electronic evidence on iPads or laptops.
Opportunities will be given to discuss the accuracy of judgements with colleagues and consultants from the English and Assessment teams.
