Withnell Fold Nature Reserve (Chorley)
Withnell Fold Nature Reserve was developed from a series of filter beds and sludge lagoons from the paper mill that stood on the eastern side of the canal. The site is now ecologically important for its woodland and wetland habitats and supports a wide variety of plants and animals. The site contains open water, steep sides and former industrial relicts.
