Civil partnerships, same-sex marriages
Summary
Between 2013 and 2015, the number of new civil partnerships formed in the Lancashire-14 area fell from 126 to just 17. This was primarily due to the introduction of same-sex marriages in March 2014. Local figures are not currently available for same-sex marriages, but the figures for England and Wales in 2014 revealed that there were 4,863 same-sex marriages and 1,683 civil partnerships formed, and in the first six months of 2015 there were 2,513 same-sex marriages and 418 civil partnerships formed.
