Amelia
Amelia is in year 11 and is currently accessing education and is living in a residential home. She wishes to live with a family as she struggles living with other children with complex needs. Amelia is very passionate, determined with a lovely sense of humour.
Amelia has experienced much instability due to her parent's absence and own challenges, which has impacted her emotional development. She can sometimes display negative behaviours to seek adult attention, testing boundaries and regularly falling out with friends. However, she is mature beyond her years due to her experiences.
Amelia needs consistent love and nurture in her life and someone who is going to be there for her through the tough times. Such a loveable girl with a heart of gold, she just sometimes struggles to manage her big emotions and needs help and guidance with this.
Amelia said:
"I don't really like school, but I know my education is important, I am hoping to continue to do hair and beauty at college."
"I don’t always know how to manage how I am feeling and sometimes don’t do well with this, I don't like talking to people about it. I am now trying to talk to people more."
"I like spending time with my friends, going shopping and watching TV. "
The case study is based on a real child, but names have been changes to protect their identity.
