This video based accredited course covers the nationally approved syllabus for Level 2 Food Allergen Awareness. It has additional content and context for childcare providers and topics covered include:
- Latest allergenic ingredient law and updates and EYFS context
- Common mistakes when working with allergenic ingredients
- Defining food allergies, food intolerances, and Coeliac Disease
- 14 food allergens named in legislation and the dangers of hidden ingredients
- How to create a simple system to manage the use of allergenic ingredients
- How to design allergy-aware recipes and ingredient factsheets for staff and parents
- How to make your premises allergy-ready incl. suppliers, delivery and cooking
- Identifying allergenic attacks and emergency First Aid and EpiPen use on young children
Duration of study
The course will take approximately 4.5 hours to complete in total which includes unlimited access to the online exam.
