Thinking differently about Play
Who is this course for?
Staff working with children in the after school and/or holiday club.
Course content
This training is designed for those playworkers who may have completed the 'Role of the Playworker' training or who already have some knowledge of play work in an out of school provision. This training will be accessed via two pre-recorded sessions. From these sessions you will gain a deeper understanding of the nature and value of school aged children’s play, review the practice within your club and embrace the necessary changes.
There will be an opportunity to reflect on what you currently offer and create an action plan for any changes you might want to make. You will receive a booklet with further reading to help you implement your new reflective approach. The sessions are thought provoking, fun and interactive and cover topics such as:
- Your role in creating the physical and human environment
- Ways to observe and support children's play
- Alternative approaches to planning
