Creating Playful Spaces Outdoors
Who is this course for?
Any practitioners or playworkers who would like to be inspired in creating stimulating outdoor environments and activities to support and engage the children at their club.
Course content
Do you feel you would like to provide more opportunities for active play, for better quality play, more social interactions and making the most of children's time outdoors? Join us on this course where we will be exploring how you can develop your outdoor areas into opportunities for fun, friendships, exercise, learning, nature, creativity, and imagination for your OOSC children.
Throughout the session we will be reflecting on what your children currently have access to within your outdoor areas and how you can move your club forwards by considering some of the following questions….
- How can your physical environments help children feel more connected to nature?
- Do you have different spaces that encourage children's health and well-being?
- Are your spaces flexible to meet the different needs of your children and useable in all weathers?
Research has informed us that children will value their outdoor spaces more if they have had an involvement of the development of it. We will consider how you can do this and, on a budget, thinking of those low cost but high impact changes.
There will be opportunities to share ideas to take back to your own club and time to explore an OOSC setting outdoor area.
