Schemas
Who is this course for?
All practitioners working with two- and three-year olds.
This session is recommended for those undertaking the Lancashire Quality Award – Birth to Three.
Course content
Schemas provide a window into children’s learning. Predominantly noted from 15 months to three years of age, schemas are thoughts and ideas that children explore as they begin to make sense of their world.
Schemas are patterns of behaviour that children display over and over, establishing foundations for early mathematical and scientific ideas and concepts.
Through this course, practitioners will gain an oversight into the most noticed schemas. We will explore how to extend children’s thinking, provide for them appropriately and fully involve parents in these dynamic thought processes.
A pack to support settings to develop home link bags, which is available to purchase separately at the Early Years Professional Development Centre, will be provided for each delegate.
