Who is this course for?
This training is for practitioners working with children aged 3 -5 years of age.
This session is essential for those settings undertaking the Lancashire Quality Award – Mathematics in the Early Years.
Course content
Supporting practitioners to harness the purposeful mathematical opportunities available within areas of continuous provision, core resources and daily routines. We will explore how to make maths memorable and meaningful and the stages of mathematical mark-making will be explored and ideas shared to promote children to represent their mathematical thinking.
Training aims:
- To explore opportunities for promoting mathematics throughout areas of continuous provision and daily routines
- To explore the role of the adult and effective teaching strategies to support and extend children’s mathematical development.
- To explore the different stages mathematical mark-making and encourage children to represent and value their own mathematical thinking
