Having difficult conversations

Who is this course for?

This training is ideal for managers, deputies and room leaders who manage other's work and those in roles such as SENDCO or Safeguarding Designated Lead Practitioner.

Course content

Do you find yourself worrying about those potentially 'difficult' conversations that you need to have? It may be with a parent about their child or a team member or student about their practice or behaviour. It could be with another professional from an outside agency.

This training will build your skills and confidence to have challenging conversations and achieve positive outcomes.

This interactive training will support you to:

  • recognise when and why a difficult conversation is required 
  • understand how to prepare for the conversation
  • start and end conversations
  • tools to maintain control
  • understand 'what not to do'
  • be a skilful communicator for positive impact
  • provide honest and clean feedback to support improvement of practice
