Exploring Talk for Writing in Early Years
Who is this course for?
Practitioners working with two-, three- and four-year-olds looking for playful ideas to help children to develop their writer's voice.
This session is recommended for those settings undertaking the Lancashire Quality Award – Early Writing.
Course content
This webinar reflects on the link between writing and spoken language and explore ideas to develop children's verbal communication, giving an introduction to strategies to support talk for writing.
It explores key messages from some published materials including Talk for Writing and Helicopter Stories as well as suggestions from practice, creating a bank of ideas that can be used across the early years to develop the link between language and writing as a universal form of communication.
The session will incorporate elements of reading and writing to draw together practical ideas that can be used in any setting.
