Who is this course for?
This training is for practitioners working with children aged 3 -5 years of age.
This session is essential for those settings undertaking the Lancashire Quality Award – Mathematics in the Early Years.
Course content
Get carried away with number and counting!
Supporting practitioners to teach children the key mathematical skills required for learning and development within number, including counting, cardinality, comparison and composition.
It explores high quality planned experiences and small group activities to reinforce number, as well as developing challenging opportunities throughout continuous provision.
Training aims:
- To gain an understanding of children’s development of mathematical concepts linked to counting and number
- To explore the effective role of the adult within small group activities and when planning challenge opportunities throughout continuous provision
- To provide a wealth of new ideas for teaching number and counting concepts in meaningful and purposeful contexts
