Characteristics of effective teaching and learning

This course is suitable for practitioners working in both the PVI and maintained school sector.

This session is recommended for those undertaking the Lancashire Quality Award – The Role of the Adult.

Course content

How children learn, not what they learn is more important if they are to become learners for life in today's society. We aim to support you to develop the characteristics of effective learning with your children while also considering what effective teaching looks like in practice.

We will consider what curriculum we need to provide for our children in terms of the characteristics of learning and how to build a curriculum to support the individual child to make progress across all areas of learning. Much of this session is about effective pedagogy and what this looks like in practice and how the adult can support children to be effective learners.
