Course content

This webinar uses a range of research to explore practical strategies to help children begin to see themselves as learners and understand how they learn so that they can repeat good learning habits and extend their critical thinking and problem solving.

Links into personal social and emotional development support reflection on expectations for children's behaviour and there will be opportunities to discuss specific strategies to support children's self-confidence and self-awareness (if being delivered in-house). The webinar will explore different ways that we can explicitly teach and scaffold positive learning behaviours and explore different strategies to ensure that children are engaged in their learning. Using examples from practitioners and suggestions from research the webinar looks more closely at different learning behaviours and use key research to identify strategies to engage children in their learning and maintain their involvement.

The webinar explores how we help children in our settings to self-regulate and manage challenges and social conflict in continuous provision and looks in detail at our understanding of independent learning in continuous provision.
