PVI membership

The Early Years Quality Improvement Team in Lancashire provide support to all Private, Voluntary and Independent settings on non-domestic premises that are registered with Ofsted and eligible to provide free early education (FEE) places for two, three and four year olds.

All settings will have the option to purchase services from the local authority in order to support the continuous quality improvement of their provision.  The Local Authority will fund the universal level of support for all settings, charges will be made for all settings who top up this support to level 1 or level 2.

Universal Level

Cost: funded by the Local Authority 

  • One annual core visit from an EYFS consultant to provide an annual conversation focused on quality provision and best outcomes for children.
  • You do not need to apply for Universal level - this is automatically open to every PVI setting (registered in Lancashire).

Level 1- Universal level support plus:
Cost: £385

  • Two for the price of one: when you book a place on a course, you can have a second, on the same course, for free. (Excluding First Aid, Safeguarding,Instant Access, guest speakers and any courses linked to an LQA award).
  • Two places at each termly 'Manager's Time to Talk' sessions
  • Unlimited staff places on each half termly live virtual workshop to support the development of practice
  • Email/telephone support from a named consultant
  • Unlimited access to the Professional Development Centre (booking required)
  • Free subscription to the termly 'Spotlight on early years' magazine for ongoing professional development
  • Microsoft Teams SSG Members Group to access the 'Manager's document bank'

Level 2-Level 1 support plus:
Cost: £485

  • Two places on 'An introduction to Safeguarding Children' virtual course and one place on the 'Safeguarding for the Designated Lead Practitioner' 5-hour course
    Or
  • One visit from the Early Years Safeguarding Officer with a copy of the new safeguarding audit tool

Plus 25% off an unlimited number of additional places on the safeguarding training.  (Please note, in house training requests are exempt from this offer)

PVI Charges

The charges below refer to settings purchasing level 1 or level 2 of the Membership SSG.  An additional charge of 10% will be incurred for any other setting.  These additional services are subject to capacity.  Priority will be given to settings accessing level 1 and 2 in the first instance.   • Staff meeting - In setting up to 1.5 hours (max 15 practitioners – venue provided by the setting) £150

  • Training - At the centre up to 2 hours (max 30 practitioners) £435

Preparation time and writing costs for bespoke training packages £100 per hour

For example to support leadership and management; self-evaluation; pre/post inspection support; coaching; joint observation and reflection with manager

  • Up to 3hrs (minimum) - £205
  • Up to 6 hrs - £410
  • Each additional hour - £70

2 places free per term with the Setting Service Guarantee (SSG).

For example to support practitioners to: develop sound knowledge of the role of the adult in supporting learning; understanding child development; developing learning environments; establishing effective key person systems and routines of the day

  • Free for all practitioners in settings with a Setting Service Guarantee in place (SSG)
