Lancashire Quality Award – The Role of the Adult

This module looks at key person systems, the support for children’s personal, social and emotional development, and the opportunities for children to develop communication skills and strategies to support positive behaviour management.

Consideration is given to a set of module standards and how to further improve and develop practice in these areas:

  1. High priority is given to recognising, supporting and extending children’s learning and development
  2. Children’s contributions are highly valued and respected
  3. High priority is given to meeting all children’s emotional development needs
  4. Practitioners support children to build effective relationships
  5. Children’s play is scaffolded effectively by all practitioners
  6. Children can rely on consistent, sensitive responses by all adults, fostering high levels of self-esteem, at all times
  7. Practitioners tune into children and engage effectively in sustained, shared thinking
  8. Practitioners support children to develop their characteristics of effective learning
  9. Practitioners respond appropriately to challenging behaviour
