- The environment is welcoming and stimulating and takes account of the needs of all children
- The environment encourages children’s independence and choice
- Children are given plenty of time to develop their play, bring their play to a close, and revisit experiences
- There is a variety and balance in the experiences offered
- High priority is given to encouraging children to communicate and use language effectively
- The whole range of physical development is promoted well
- Children’s personal, social and emotional development is promoted well throughout the indoor environment
- Children have a wide range of interesting opportunities to develop early reading and writing skills
- Children have quality opportunities to develop their mathematical language and understanding through a varied range of experiences largely based on real life situations
- Children are encouraged to ask questions, solve problems and develop enquiring minds
- A wide range of resources and experiences promote creativity and children’s individual expression is valued and celebrated
- There is a good understanding of the adult role within the learning environment
