Lancashire Quality Award – Birth to Three

This module considers all elements of high quality provision and practice for babies and toddlers.

Consideration is given to a set of module standards and how to further improve and develop practice in these areas:

  1. An inspiring and enabling indoor learning environment is permanently available
  2. An inspiring and enabling outdoor learning environment is permanently available
  3. Parents are valued as children’s first and most important educator
  4. All practitioners are warm, responsive and nurturing and children form secure attachments with a key person
  5. Routines throughout the day are utilised to embed learning opportunities and to strengthen relationships
  6. All practitioners understand how children learn most effectively
  7. An effective cycle for observation, assessment and planning is in place
  8. All children are supported effectively to make progress in their learning and development
  9. Leadership and management of under threes’ staff demonstrates that there is a strong commitment to 0-3 professional development to ensure that quality provision is established and maintained
  10. Effective transition systems meet individual needs of children throughout the day and across the year from induction, moving to a new room and on to another setting
