Highways decarbonisation strategy

We have been awarded the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) Climate Action Award in recognition of our Highways Decarbonisation Strategy. The mission statement for the project is to achieve ‘Sustainability through Durability’, and part of this work is to use new lower carbon materials and techniques.

The Highways Decarbonisation Strategy will support the county council's corporate priorities, in particular the need to protect our environment by putting in place a strategy to achieve a realistic carbon reduction from highways maintenance and highway related activities. The strategy was approved by Cabinet on 7 April 2022.
