South Ribble

Location: Leyland Road between Studholme Crescent and the Cawsey

Proposals: We have reviewed the parking and waiting restrictions so that buses can line up correctly with the level boarding points at bus stops. This will improve accessibility for passengers and will also enable the bus to depart safely from the stop.

We have also reviewed bus stop locations and are making them accessible for all with raised kerbs, boarding points, better shelters (where applicable) and bus stop boxes and restrictions to protect the bus stops from parked cars

Progress: We advertised Traffic Regulation Orders in May / June 2023 and Lancashire County Council's Cabinet approved the proposals on 07/09/2023.

We plan to deliver this scheme before the end of May 2024.

Find out more: The scheme is detailed on the concept plan above

Formal advertising of the Traffic Regulation Orders has ended but they are still available to view on the Lancashire County council proposed traffic regulation orders  webpage under the scheme titled Leyland Road, Penwortham, South Ribble Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 202* LSG4/894.16727/AFR

The Cabinet report and approval can be found at Council - Issue - items at meetings - Leyland Road No Waiting At Any Time and Bus Stop Relocation Proposal (lancashire.gov.uk)

Location: Along the 125 bus route: Phase 1 - Adlington to Chorley and Phase 2 - Chorley to Preston, Walton Summit

Proposals:

We are making bus stop improvements, including reviewing locations and making them accessible for all with raised kerbs, boarding points, better shelters (where applicable) and bus stop boxes and/or restrictions to protect the bus stops from parked cars.

The proposals are in 2 phases

  • Phase 1 - Adlington to Chorley and
  • Phase 2 - Chorley to Preston including Walton Summit

Progress: Adlington to Chorley

We carried out formal consultation on bus stops and advertised the associated Traffic Regulation Orders from 16/01/2024 to 13/02/2024.  We did receive an objection to the plans for one of the bus stop and the proposals will therefore be put to the Cabinet for a decision at its meeting on 11 April 2024.  The Cabinet report will be available to view on the Lancashire County Council web page in the week before the meeting.

Subject to Cabinet approval, delivery of the proposals would be planned for Summer through to Autumn 2024.

Phase 2: Chorley to Preston:

We will confirm formal advertising and Traffic Regulation Order consultation dates for the majority of Phase 2 around May / June 2024. However, we are expecting to begin advertising for the orders for the Walton Summit part of Phase 2 from 19th April 2024

Proposed delivery would be between January and March 2025.
