Lancashire Historic Environment Record (LHER) charging policy
Scale of charges for the commercial use of information provided by the LHER valid from 1st April 2024
The following scale of charges is based on that set up by the Lancashire Environmental Record Network, which has itself been developed from the well-established scale of charges for Biological Information.
This scale of charges relates to the commercial use of information supplied remotely by the LHER. Prices are subject to VAT unless otherwise stated. Minimum charge for charging by invoice is £100, otherwise requests should be accompanied by a cheque made payable to Lancashire County Council.
As the LHER is predominantly computerised and there is no dedicated public access terminal, it has to be searched and material extracted by a Lancashire County Council staff member, so commercial visits to the LHER are charged at the same price as remote queries, plus an additional fee of £167 per hour.
By applying these charges the LHER is granting a limited use licence for Copyright materials to be used in connection with a specific named project.
Data is supplied on the understanding that:
- It will be used solely for project described in application
- The digital data will not to be passed on to other bodies or retained after project completion without specific permission (except for reasonable project archive purposes).
- The LHER will be acknowledged as the data provider where supplied data is used or referenced in reports.
- The LHER takes reasonable measures to ensure that the data it supplies is verified and validated, however, by their nature, archaeological records can be subjective, based on the skill and experience of the original recorders. No warranty is expressed or implied in respect of the accuracy of the underlying data.
