Learning disability health checks
Everyone over the age of 14, with a learning disability can have an annual health check from their GP. This is free to everyone on their GPs learning disability register.
You do not need to have any health problems or concerns, the health check is to make sure you stay well. It is a chance for you to get healthy living advice and find out about screening programmes.
The health check appointment will last up to an hour - 30 minutes with the practice nurse and 30 minutes with a doctor.
Information from your health check will be shared with local hospitals and emergency health care providers. This is so they know about any reasonable adjustments you might need if they are contacted for help.
How to get an appointment
Ask your GP if you are on their learning disability register and ask for an 'Annual Learning Disability Health Check' every year.
