Parent carer support groups
At support groups you can meet other families, share your experiences and learn from others in an informal setting.
Groups might be set up by parents or run by professionals or organisations. They may cater for parents who live in the same area whose children have a variety of different disabilities or the same condition.
Meeting other parents or carers in the same position can help you feel less isolated. Support groups may offer:
- opportunities to socialise
- information and advice
- emotional support
- a crèche for younger children or siblings
- family activities
