Summary of policy
This is a Voluntary Aided school – please contact the school for full admission details. To apply for a place at this school, please apply online and use the supplementary information form available from the school.
-
(a) Children in public care and previously looked after children. This criteria also includes looked after children and all previously looked after children who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.(b) Children in special medical or social circumstances affecting the child where these needs can only be met at this school.
-
Children who have a sibling attending school on the date of application and on the date of admission.
-
Children of staff. This applies to all staff, full and part time, who are employed on a permanent contract of employment in either or both of the following circumstances:
(a) Where the member of staff has been employed at Kirkland & Catterall St Helen’s for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission is made, and/or
(b)The member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage. -
Children who attend Jellybeans pre-school
Children must have been in regular attendance for at least two terms. Regular attendance in this instance is defined by parents using at least 15 of their funded hours on a weekly basis. -
Children with a parent/guardian worshipping in a church in membership of Churches Together in England and who live within a 5-mile radius of school. Once confirmation of church attendance has been obtained, places will be ranked according to the straight-line distance from home to the school, nearer addresses having priority over more distant ones.
-
Distance from the school
In the event that places remain unfilled after the application of criteria 1 - 5, remaining places will be ranked according to the straight-line distance from home to the school, nearer addresses having priority over more distant ones.
Where there are more applicants for the available places within a category, then the distance between the Ordnance Survey address points for the school and the home measured in a straight line will be used as the final determining factor, nearer addresses having priority over more distant ones. This address point is within the body of the property and usually located at its centre. Where two addresses have the same distance, or the cut-off point is for addresses within the same building, then the Local Authority's system of a random draw will determine which address(es) receive the offer(s).
