Make a card or a gift
You will need:
You don’t need much to get started creating your card! Here are some suggestions:
- coloured paper/ card
- plain paper/ card (remember you can recycle old paper)
- colouring pens/pencils/crayons
- paint
- stickers
- sequins
- glue
Your child might prefer to create their own model or choose something old to upcycle and decorate for a friend or family member. Let your child decide!
What to do
Let your child lead their own creation using the resources you provide. Chat with your child about who they might want to send a card to and the type of card you are going to make together.
Some of the types of cards might be:
- Birthday card – Is it anyone’s birthday coming up?
- Thank you card – Who could we say thank you to?
- Welcome card – A new child might have joined your child’s daycare setting.
- Postcard – If you go on holiday, don’t forget to write and send a postcard to a family member or a friend at home.
Skills your child will learn
Social and emotional skills are important for you to teach your child. They don't just develop by themselves. These skills will help them to lead healthy and happy lives.
Your child is developing their artistic and mark making skills – they are writing for a real purpose!
