Emotional health and wellbeing
The emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people is very important. In order for them to be able to fully access and thrive in education, these needs must be met.
Here are some services which can support children and young people:
Kooth
Kooth is a website that supports the mental wellbeing of children and young people aged 11 to 16 in a safe and anonymous way.
Through the website, young people can chat to a counsellor online. They can also read articles by young people, get support from peers on discussion boards and write in a daily journal.
No referral needed, as long as they are aged 11 to 16 and living in Lancashire all young people can join Kooth via the website Kooth.com
You can find out more on the Kooth website - FAQs for parents.
Visit the Healthy Young Minds website for a map of mental health services in Lancashire and South Cumbria and advice, guidance and support around children and young people’s mental health and emotional wellbeing.
Visit the Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCft) website to find out about emotional health and mental health services in your local area.
The Children and Family Wellbeing Service offers parenting support, youth support and youth groups.
Some of the services are available to all children or families and others are for those who are in most need of support.
They support families of children and young people from 0 to 19 years old and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities up to 25.
