Volunteering
Volunteering is an establish pathway to employment. It provides a purpose, increases self-esteem and develops skills and knowledge that is transferable to paid employment.
The Lancashire Volunteer Partnership coordinates volunteer roles across many different sectors for the whole of Lancashire.
The Step Together charity has a specific project aimed at wounded, injured and sick service personnel and seeks to promote recovery and rehabilitation through volunteering. However, they have recently started to widen their participation and will now support any veteran or family member into a volunteering role.
All of the national armed forces charities operate in Lancashire and are actively recruiting for volunteers. Please contact them to hear about their volunteering roles if you wish to support the armed forces community.
Other more local charities with volunteer opportunities are:
- Veterans In Communities (VIC) in Haslingden and Accrington
- Dig-In North West in Preston
- First Light Trust in Lancaster
