Businesses can help the armed forces community by understanding the benefits that forces people bring to the work place and deliberately aiming their roles at the armed forces community. The following links provide practical steps to take.

• Sign the Armed Forces Covenant - Businesses and charitable organisations can sign the Armed Forces Covenant and in doing so publically make their own promises of support.
• Join the Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme - The Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) encourages employers to support defence and inspire other organisations to do the same.
• See the evidence from Veterans Work – The Veterans Work project undertakes research and challenges employers to look beyond rigid hiring criteria and recognise the value that Service leavers can bring to business. Taking a slightly longer term view and harnessing the transferrable skills of veterans can pay great dividends.
• Register your job roles with the CTP – To get your roles directly to service leavers and veterans, register them with the Career Transition Partnership.
• Register your job roles with FFJ – To get your job roles directly to the family members of service leavers and veterans, register them with Forces Families Jobs.
