Annual leave policy
(Revised 1 August 2010)
1. The leave year commences on 1st April and ends on 31st March the following year.
2. Employees will be entitled to 25 days' annual leave per year rising to 31 days (pro rata for part time employees) on the anniversary of the employee's 5th year of Local Government continuous service.

3. When calculating annual leave entitlement, part days should be rounded up or down to the nearest half day.
4. Employees are allowed to bank up to 5 days annual leave (pro rata for part time employees) each year, up to a maximum of 20 days in total.
5. Booking of annual leave is subject to line manager approval.
6. Employees will be expected to use their remaining annual leave entitlement during their notice period prior to the date of termination.
Completion of 20 Years' Service
Employees who achieve 20 years' service with the County Council will be granted an additional one day's leave to be taken within 12 months of the date on which the employee achieves 20 years' service. This leave applies for one year only and is applied on a pro rata basis for part time employees.
