If you have an emergency and need to contact us out of hours, you can call us regarding a social care matter on 0300 123 6722, or a highways matter on 0300 123 6780.
During the festive season you can still use the 'Report It' to log highway faults.
You can also follow us on X, Facebook and Instagram where we will be able to respond during our office opening days detailed below, between 9am - 5pm.

Parking
Arthur Street Preston offers pay and display parking every Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays throughout the year, including the Christmas period.
It will be open from Tuesday 24 through to Sunday 29 December, and Wednesday 1 January as a pay and display car park.
Parking is also available at Preston bus station car park.
Park and ride
Park and Ride bus and car parking services over the Christmas and New Year period.
Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC)
Our Recycling Centres will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

All our libraries will be closed on bank and public holidays. There are additional closures on extra statutory dates.

Museums
Christmas opening times of our museums.
Gawthorpe Hall, Helmshore Mills, Judges' Lodgings and Queen Street Mill are now closed to the general public until Spring 2024. You can keep updated on opening dates for each individual museum by visiting the Museums homepage.
Community cafés
The community café at Helmshore Mills will remain open on Thursdays, 11am to 4pm. This will be open from Thursday 9 January and includes two demonstrations at 12pm and 2pm every Thursday of the spinning floor. The museum will open fully again from Wednesday 2 April 2025.
From Wednesday 8 January 2025, the Queen Street Mill café will be open every Wednesday and Thursday 11am to 3.45pm until April 2025.
Clitheroe Castle Museum
Clitheroe Castle Museum will be closed from Sunday 22 December to Friday 27 December 2024, and on Wednesday 1 January 2025. The museum and castle grounds will be open to explore throughout the Christmas period.
Clitheroe Castle Museum has some special Betwixtmas activities running every day from 28 to 31 December, including an exciting gnome hunt, festive badge crafting, a medieval competition quiz and much more all taking place to keep the children entertained over the holidays.
If you're interested in the history of Lancashire's dancing scene, check out the latest free exhibition in the Steward's Gallery, Wooden Soles, Lively Souls: A celebration of clogs and clog dancing. Featuring a collection of artefacts, humorous postcards, film and photographs, don’t miss this fascinating look into the past and present, running until 15 February 2025.

Archives (Record office)
Opening times for Lancashire Archives including the Christmas period. Please note that there is visitor parking at Lancashire Archives available during opening hours, including two spaces for Blue Badge holders.
