1.0 Scope of Service
The Mechanical and Electrical Engineers provide basic M&E engineering
services for new build work, while direct engineering contracts for existing
premises include boiler replacements, electrical rewires and fire and
security alarms. Other services available include appraisals, feasibility
studies, engineering installation surveys, brief development and general
service engineering advice.
1.2 Mechanical Engineer
The Mechanical Engineer can design, prepare drawings and specify installations,
investigate existing systems, prepare reports, advise and liaise, invite
tenders, supervise site activities, commission and prepare accounts for
mechanical installations consisting of:
Heating, domestic hot or cold water services, natural gas systems, propane/butane
gas systems, compressed air installations, air conditioning, humidification,
dehumidification, refrigeration / cooling plants and installations, ventilation,
dust extract, steam installations, air ionisation, fuel conversions of
heating plant, upgrading of existing services, plant refurbishment, boiler
plant remodelling / replacements, control / energy systems, legionella
analysis and sprinkler systems.
1.3 Electrical Engineer
The Electrical Engineer can design, prepare drawings and specify installations,
investigate existing systems, prepare reports, advise and liaise, invite
tenders, supervise site activities, commission and prepare accounts for
electrical installations consisting of:
- lighting and power systems
- power factor correction
- control, telephone and intercommunication systems
- lightning conductor installations
- fire detection and alarm
- intruder alarms
- security arrangements
- pneumatic control (eg hazardous areas)
- electrical intrinsically-safe networks
- security lighting
- floodlighting of buildings
- sports’ field lighting
- high-voltage networks
- TV and radio-aerial networks
- public address and paging systems
- lifts and hoists
