Scope of Service
The Quantity Surveyor can provide a complete financial service on costing
and contract matters for new build, adaptation and remodelling work. The
Team can also organises the procurement of temporary mobile classrooms
and office accommodation. Additional services include appraisals, feasibility
studies, budget estimating, cost planning and general building cost advice
along with bids and returns to Government Departments, procurement strategy,
progress and financial performance monitoring, contractual claims advice
and bankruptcies.
1.1 Basic Service
The basic service can include:

Budget estimating; cost planning and advice on tendering
procedure and contract arrangements

Preparing tendering documents for main contract and specialist sub-contracts;
examining tenders received and reporting thereon or negotiating tenders
and pricing with a selected contractor and/or sub-contractor

Preparing recommendations for interim payments on account to the
contractor; preparing periodic assessments of anticipated final cost
and reporting thereon; measuring work and adjusting variations in
accordance with the terms of the contract and preparing/pricing final
accounts and agreeing totals with the contractor
1.2 Contract Terminations
The Quantity Surveyor can also provide services as necessary arising out
of the termination of a contract before completion, liquidation, fire
damage to buildings, services in connection with arbitration, litigation
and investigation of the validity of contractor’s claims, and services
in connection with tax action matters.
1.3 Financial Advisory Service
Carry out cost planning for a building project, including the cost of
associated design services, site developments, landscaping, furniture
and equipment; advise on cash flow requirements for design cost, construction
cost, and cost-in-use.
