Amy Jenkins,   Honeymoon

"Excellent story - Well thought out
A little unusual writiing in places but really wanted to find out what happened at the end"

Nicholas Rinaldi,  The Jukebox Queen of Malta

"A book that loses its way slightly. You always wonder who is playing the leading role, the 'Hero' or Malta itself.
The wartime backdrop and the romance also take second place at times, as the story becomes more of a travelogue.
Worth a try though."

"I enjoyed this book, Malta definitely takes the lead role in this novel. The love story part of the book never quite makes it. If you have been to Malta and knwo it well, its most certainly one to read"

Eric Thompson,  Dougal

"Did not want to bring it back! Had it two months!".

Nicholas Blincoe,  Manchester Slingback

"Very good, but not for the squeamish."

"Disturbing, grotesque, witty, evocative.
Brilliantly written. The flashbacks to Manchester under the Talibanish policing of 'God's Copper' Anderton are devastatingly accurate. Blinco aught to be Poet Laureate."

"I'm not really into detective stories and I guessed who killed Johnny early on, but it was still a brilliant read."

Terry McMillan,  How Stella got her groove back

I always finish a book  if I start it. I made an exception of this sexist, racist, American rubbish."

"Didn't take it that seriously!
It was readable and quite enjoyable. Stella is certainly a character."

Amy Tan,  The Joy Lucky Club

"Really enjoyed it"

"Not my type of book. Couldn't get into it."

"Great story covering Chinese and American history in a personal, readable way."

Bernard Schlink,  The Reader

"Very moving and thought provoking - the kind of story to play on your mind for some time after you've finished reading it."

"This book is essentially a love story, encapsulating the holocaust. I agree its very moving but there is nothing to love or hate about it, and it would not be of any appeal to anyone seeking information about the holocaust. It was a good read about how a man felt about love, conflict and eroticism in the beautiful manner this author presented."

" I think the story lost something in the translation. The 'narrator' is more spoilt than seeking atonement. However it was a good read."

Isabel Losada,  The Battersea Park Road to Enlightenment

"An enjoyable book that really does make you think.

I got quite a lot out of this plus its really funny."

Rebecca Wells,   Little Altars Everywhere

"Even better (if possible) than 'Divine Secrets' .
A deeply moving and often hilarious book, which will interest anyone who finds human nature fascinating"

Anita Shreve,  The Pilot's Wife

"Believable, moving story with great attention to detail.

Poingant to be reading this at the time of the disaster in America"
