NHS employee numbers
The 2015 NHS staff numbers have been published for various Trusts that are either partly or wholly based in Lancashire. The numbers cover clinical commissioning groups and foundation trusts, and are split by various medical and non-medical categories. The North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust are also included. Blackpool, East Lancashire, Lancashire Care and Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trusts all recorded over 6,000 medical and non-medical staff in 2015. The total non-medical staff in these trusts was 45,915 and the total medical staff was 3,614.

In October 2015, it was announced the Calderstones Partnership NHS Trust would close in 2018 with Mersey Care NHS Trust taking over its services. The 2015 staff number count for Calderstones was 1,038.
In the eight former Clinical Commissioning Groups covering Lancashire there were 976 practitioners (headcount numbers) and 3,612 other practice staff, including nurses (headcount numbers). These 2 counts are from different tables in which the figures for GPs do not tally so we ask that they should be treated with some caution. Staff numbers are likely to be volatile and it should be remembered that the figures are published for a period some months ago. The more detailed categories of staff do not seem to have been made available in the same format as in previous years, so we have been unable to produce the same longer article that was on this website before.
