Anti-social behaviour

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) is the common term used to describe incidents or actions that cause damage or affect the quality of life of people. It can be any behaviour that causes harassment, alarm or distress to one or more persons not living in the same household and can include things such as noise, neighbour nuisances, abandoned vehicles, litter and vehicle nuisance.

Main points for Lancashire-12 (December 2024)

• The Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW June 2024) estimates 36% of people in Lancashire-12 experienced or witnessed anti-social behaviour, slightly higher when compared to 35% in England. 
• 2,613 anti-social behaviour incidents were recorded.
• Lancashire-12 rate of anti-social behaviour incidents per 1,000 population was 2.06, significantly above the England rate at 0.94 per 1,000 population and marks an increase compared to the same month the previous year.
• Public order offences rate per 1,000 population is 0.28 for Lancashire-12, substantially lower than the England rate of 0.45 per 1,000 population.
• The rate of criminal damage and arson offences per 1,000 population is 0.60, slightly above the average for England of 0.54 per 1,000 population.
