IT'S BETTER BY BUS!

One bus can carry as many passengers as twenty cars but takes up much less space on the road and makes much less pollution. This is why using the bus makes sense.

Lancashire County Council is committed to improving bus services in the County and we are introducing lots of new initiatives that will benefit the travelling public such as :

Quality Bus Schemes - Bus routes which comprise many quality features such as easy-access buses, better bus shelters and bus stops, and bus priority measures.

New bus services - such as the Garstang Super 8 which runs as both a conventional bus service with a fixed route and timetable, and also has the flexibility, within a designated area, to deviate from this route to pick up passengers who have booked the bus in advance.

New interchanges - such as Carnforth Connect, which co-ordinates bus with other forms of transport in an efficient way

Easier access to public transport information - through new developments such as traveline - public transport information 7 days a week.

Our Strategy for Bus Travel
Lancashire County Council's Local Transport Plan 2001/02 - 2005/06 sets out, amongst other things, our strategy for bus travel within the county.
