One of Lancashire County Council's objectives is for Lancashire residents
to "Get help if they need it". Thinking about your local area, in
what ways, if any, could the County Council's services be improved so that
people get help if they need it ?

Post leaflets through doors, so people are aware of what help is available
and how to get it, e.g. relevant phone numbers & web addresses.
Walk in centre in local library's which are staffed on a part time basis,
plus the use of the mobile library vehicles.

Question Nine:
Do you feel 'safe' on Lancashire's Highways?
Example responses:
Other drivers make me feel unsafe. How about the introduction of training courses for more mature drivers. Include the use of roundabouts and driving at appropriate speeds. Also before every speed camera a speed limit sign.
No not at all, there are senseless drivers who drive too fast with not enough police presence. Road rage is most definitely on the increase!
I don't feel safe on the A59 Samlesbury towards Blackburn.
Yes, but there's too much traffic. It's very frustrating.
Yes in the main but there are areas where I would not walk.
Yes, except at the Ringway / Lune Street junction!
Road maintenance could be improved.
Question Ten:
In principle do you support the increased use of wind energy in Lancashire? Also, would you support the development of wind turbines near to where you live?
Example responses:
Yes to both questions. I support the use of natural energy 100% and would be very happy with the use of turbines where I live. The sooner the better!
In principle have no objection but would need to see specific plans.
Yes I approve of wind farms and would not object to them locally.
Yes I would support the increased use of wind energy in Lancashire.
Yes and I support Nuclear power.
Yes but not wind farms.
I support in principle but much prefer offshore developments.
Yes, especially on sites adjacent to motorways where noise would not be an issue.
Yes to wind technology, but no to turbines in Blackpool, but only because I think there are more appropriate alternative energy sources for a coastal resort.
I do support the use of wind turbines and wouldn't mind them near my home.
I am not to sure. I think all options of alternative energy production should be discussed at a greater level than has been to date and we should go with the general public opinion, for example wave energy.
We need removable structures that don't leave permanent scars on the landscape. I'm sure that turbine designs can be adjusted to make them more sympathetic to their immediate surroundings. I also support tidal and solar power too.
Question Eleven:
What is your favourite spot in Lancashire and why?
Example responses:
Rivington because you can get away from people and get some peace and quiet!
The Trough of Bowland because of its solitude and bleakness.
Dinkley woods near ribchester because the ribble is beautiful..
Longridge fell because of the superb views.
The woods and moors around hurstwood near burnley.
Spring Wood because of the fabulous bluebells.
Lancaster Canal because of all the wildlife and natural beauty.
My favourite spot is Pendle Hill. I love the wonderful views and it's spooky history.
The headland at Heysham. We love to walk around the ruins and stone graves by st peters church. It is very peaceful and there are lovely views across morecambe bay.
Bruccianis cafe, Preston. Love the nostalgia.
Question Twelve:
How could LCC be more
responsive to your local needs and views?
Example responses:
Cheaper bus travel more routes for buses one call does it all.
Encourage more feedback via internet, text message, post and phone.
They do ok now.
Provide real one stop shops.
Question Thirteen:
Currently the street lighting in Lancashire is on during the hours of darkness, some councils switch the lights off between midnight and 5am to reduce electricity costs. Do you think this is a good idea?
Example responses:
Yes, in some areas. Not in all.
Yes, a great idea.
Definitely! It will cut down on light pollution and save money.
Yes I do unless there are specific security issues which need addressing.
I think this is a bad idea.Crime figures are high and pubs and shops are open longer leaving people vulnerable.Maybe sensors on streetlights would be an idea!
No, it would be a bad idea to switch street lighting off after midnight. It may cause a rise in accidents and crimes.
I think it depends upon traffic and pedestrian flows between these times and also a factor representing crime figures for similar areas. Automatic 'movement sensors' controling the lights would be an advantage here, so you have lights where and when they are needed.
Yes it is an extremely good idea it helps with taxes and more importantly to reduce the need for electricity being wasted therefore good for the environment.
No because it would mean people out and about between these hours would be at greater risk of violent crime. It would also give cover of darkness to burglars. It has great health and safety issues.
Yes it is a good idea but only on major roads like bypasses.
Good idea. Streetlights burning when there are few people around is very wastful and contributes to light pollution.
