The popular strategy – which already boasts over 20,000 pledges from individuals, companies and organisations – has played an important part in raising awareness of road safety issues, while helping to reduce road casualties since it began back in 1998.
County Councillor Jean Yates, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation, pledged her support on the strategy’s fifth anniversary while unveiling the special anniversary logo, which will be used during the fifth anniversary period.
She explained: “Together We Can Make the Difference encourages support and action from a wide range of groups and individuals across the County. The Road Safety Group has done an excellent job in bringing together people from across the County in support of road safety initiatives. Keep up the good work!”
Neil Cunliffe, Road Safety Group Manager, added: “The strategy has brought together over 100 local companies and organisations – as part of the 20,000 total pledges – in a committed bid to reduce the number of road casualties on Lancashire’s roads. Together We Can Make the Difference forms part of the Local Transport Plan and has received fantastic support in its first five years. With this continued support and the backing of further businesses and organisations, the strategy will go from strength to strength.”
