The landscape advisory service provides professional advice on
landscape policy and design throughout Lancashire. The service comprises the
following activities:
Landscape input to the statutory planning processthrough advice on the
landscape aspects of planning applications, local plans and the Joint
Structure Plan.
Developing statutory and non-statutory strategies and plans. A Landscape
Strategy for Lancashire was launched on 22 May 2001. This document comprises
two volumes, the Landscape Character
Assessment and the Landscape
Strategy which can both be viewed on line. A summary document An
Introduction is also available to view on line or download. The Landscape
Strategy will form the basis for the preparation of Supplementary Planning
Guidance on landscape for the new Joint Structure Plan.Landscape issues
are an important element of many environmental strategies and plans including
the
Forest of Bowland AONB Management Plan 2004-2009
and West
Pennine Moors AMC Statement of Intent.
Developing and advising on landscape projects within the County Council
and with district and parish councils and the Countryside Agency, including
developing partnerships and funding packages.
Providing landscape advice on applications to the Forestry Commissions
Woodland Grant Scheme and other forestry and environmental initiatives such
as The Forest of Burnley and The Bowland Initiative.
Providing landscape input to management plans for County Council sites
including the Beacon Fell Country
Park Management Plan.
Providing information to members of the public, developers and consultants
on landscape issues and policy. There is a charge to private developers
and consultants for provision of information.
