2003 Lancashire County Council is awarded Beacon Council status reflecting the Authority’s support for the rural economy. This award recognises the work of the Authority in the formulation and implementation of comprehensive rural regeneration strategies and action plans which support a sustainable rural economy.
2006 The Lancashire County Council Environmental Policy and Management Strategy is launched. These documents represent the County Council’s first corporate commitment to the performance management of its own environmental impacts.
2005 The Lancashire Environment Strategy is launched at an official event at County Hall. The launch of the strategy marks a new chapter in the story of sustainable development in Lancashire. It brings a greater focus on environmental issues in the county over the period 2005-2010.
2003 LCC's Local Agenda 21 Strategy Final Report was published. This signalled the end of the LA21 process and the development of the new Lancashire Environment Strategy.
