Health and Environment

The quality of the environment that we live in has a major impact on our health.

Pollution from transport and industry is pumped into the air we breathe, and it has been seen that an increase in air pollution over the years has led to an increase in respiratory diseases such as asthma.

Contaminated land can lead to the pollution of water sources and the soil our food crops are grown in. This can lead to chemicals getting into our food chain and can be harmful to human health.

We generally feel better in an environment that is free from fly tipping, litter and graffiti, with local access to green spaces and biodiversity.

Fuel poverty is another issue that affects our health, as many people live in cold, damp houses that they cannot afford to keep warm. This can affect their physical and mental well-being.
