Lancashire County Council's Environmental Policy and Management Strategy

Lancashire County Council has a wide-ranging impact on the environment through its use of energy, water, transport and waste generation. In addition this, the Council is responsible for the provision of a number of environmental services, and is involved in raising awareness, and setting an example to partners and the wider community. It is therefore important that the Council takes responsibility for its environmental impact.

Within Lancashire County Council’s Corporate Plan, there is an objective:

“to make Lancashire a place where people can enjoy a high quality environment”.

A priority within this objective is:

“to do what we can as an organisation to enhance Lancashire’s environment now and for future generations”.

In response to these corporate objectives, Lancashire County Council has developed its first Environmental Policy Statement and Environmental Management Strategy. These documents are a first step towards ensuring that the environmental implications of Council activities are fully considered and measures are taken to ensure improvements in environmental performance.
