If sustainable development is to be achieved, and our environment improved for future generations to enjoy, it is essential that we educate our children effectively on important environmental and social issues and equip them with the skills and knowledge that they need to live and act in a sustainable way.
These web pages have been designed by the Lancashire County Council’s Environmental Policy Team to assist schools in taking forward education for sustainable development (ESD) and environmental projects. It will provide some useful background information and a summary of projects and programmes that are operating across Lancashire. The Lancashire Environmental Education Directory provides details of a wide range of local organisations that can assist your school with its environmental activities ranging from biodiversity to renewable energy and also contains a further list of national web links. For up-to date information go to recent news to find out about current environmental education activities and events happening across the county
For those schools that have yet to get a clear focus on environmental issues these web pages should provide a good starting point. Thank you for your interest and good luck with your project work.
