Brindle St Joseph's Primary School received a Community Design to provide the school with a plan for the development of their school grounds that could be implemented in phases, with a view to celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the school on its current site.
Pupils from years 5 and 6 took part in visioning work to develop ideas for the grounds which were then passed to the designer as a basis for the final plans.
The design gave the school plans to work from that could be sent to potential funders, together with costed estimates for the work. The plans were also put on exhibition in the school and a fundraising day was held, which proved extremely successful as people could actually see what they were being asked to raise funds for.
The project has attracted over £18,000 in funding to date from Lancashire Small Sites Reclamation Programme, Green Partnership Awards, Charitable Trusts and school fundraising events.
The children of Brindle St Josephs Primary School were involved at every stage and held a bulb planting day as a first step towards implementing the plans
