Courses for Teachers Returning to Teaching

Edge Hill and St. Martin's Colleges of Higher Education provide a range of courses (both part time and full time) for qualified teachers who are considering returning to teaching after a break in their career.

Courses for both Primary and Secondary teachers are available. These courses are funded by the Training and Development Agency. On occasion, bursaries have been made available for those teachers completing the course. The courses provide an update of the curriculum, other statutory requirements, career guidance and a school placement.

Bids to the Training and Development Agency for the provision and funding of Returning to Teaching Courses have been made in partnership with Lancashire LA. Lancashire’s Recruitment and Retention Team contributes to the marketing, recruitment and delivery of these courses. The LA leads sessions dealing with teacher responsibilities, recruitment and Career progression in addition to an overview of Teachers’ Pay and Conditions.
